Unlike most pumpkin ales that contain the basic pie ingredients (pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.), Night Owl also uses raw and roasted pumpkin seeds. The dominant flavor seems to be allspice, but there's also some. On the taste, it's very reminiscent of pumpkin pie, though not quite as sweet. It's very aromatic, but smells more like apple cider. Night Owl is light in color for this style, with a bright, copper hue. The sub for all things Bellingham, Fairhaven, and Whatcom County. Night Owl is no exception to Dick’s bend for the unique.
